Efforts to Reflect the Characteristics of Vocational Colleges Demanded by the Times

The Department of Computer Information Convergence at Cheongam University (Acting President Kim Seong-hong) has achieved various results as a result of reorganizing the department since 2021 and reflecting the characteristics of vocational colleges demanded by the times, such as regional settlement of professional technical personnel.

According to the university, it is operating web programming courses, mobile application courses, AR/VR courses, IoT courses, server and database management courses, etc. required in the field. In addition, it has secured professors with extensive practical experience in each course to strengthen its expertise in the field, and the participation and efforts of professors and students in each talent development field have combined to achieve various results.

In particular, externally, it has achieved great achievements such as winning the Encouragement Award at the 21st Jeollanam-do Public Data Utilization Idea Contest and the Grand Prize and Excellence Award at the 22nd Jeollanam-do ICT/SW-based Social Problem Solving Contest (jointly hosted by NHN Enterprise).

Internally, we have achieved various qualifications in the fields of talent development such as Information Processing Industry Engineer, Linux Master, SQLD, GTQ, IoT Knowledge Ability Test, and CAT, and based on these efforts and achievements, we have started to gain a reputation as an IT professional talent development institution in the local community, and have established ourselves as an ICT talent pool in the eastern part of Jeollanam-do.

At the same time, all students who graduated in February 2023 and participated in the specialization course have succeeded in early employment, and all students except some of those scheduled to graduate in February 2024 have succeeded in early employment, and are preparing for early employment.

In addition, by conducting departmental specialization through industry-academia cooperation and various research and regular/non-regular courses, we have clearly proven the results of local settlement of IT technology personnel through qualification acquisition, competition awards, early employment, etc., and are continuing to carry out a major mission by continuously cultivating a local ICT professional talent pool.

The Department of Computer Information Convergence and Department of Computer Information Convergence, Woojin Choi, said, “We aim to foster professional technical talents who can settle down in the local community as IT majors by providing opportunities and confidence to approach field technologies through the implementation of industry-linked projects, while utilizing the strengths of the field-specific professors with practical experience to conduct practical-focused education.”
